Terms & Conditions

About these terms
These terms govern your use of In Real Life ("the service"), a London culture digest delivered via WhatsApp and operated by Maximilian Deacon ("we", "us", "our"), a sole trader registered in England.
By subscribing to or using the service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please unsubscribe by messaging us on WhatsApp.
What the service is
In Real Life sends you personalised recommendations for cultural events, experiences, food, and things to do in London via WhatsApp. Recommendations are generated using automated systems, including AI agents, based on your stated preferences and interactions with the service.
Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to use the service. By subscribing, you confirm that you meet this requirement.
Your account and data
Your WhatsApp phone number is your identifier on the service. You are responsible for ensuring you have access to the phone number you subscribe with.
We collect and process your data in accordance with our Privacy Policy. By using the service, you acknowledge that you have read and understood the Privacy Policy.
What we provide — and what we don't
We aim to provide useful, timely, and interesting cultural recommendations. However:
- Accuracy. Recommendations are generated by automated systems. Event details — including dates, times, prices, locations, and availability — may be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date. Always verify details with the venue or organiser before making plans.
- Availability. We do not guarantee that the service will be available without interruption. WhatsApp, our hosting providers, or other third-party services may experience downtime outside our control.
- Suitability. Recommendations are suggestions, not endorsements. We are not responsible for your experience at any venue, event, or establishment we recommend.
Affiliate links and commercial relationships
We may include affiliate links or commercial partnerships in our recommendations. Where we do, this does not affect how recommendations are selected or ranked — our curation is editorially independent. We will make commercial relationships clear where relevant.
Acceptable use
When interacting with the service, you agree not to:
- Send abusive, threatening, or illegal content.
- Attempt to extract data from, reverse-engineer, or interfere with the service's systems.
- Use the service for any commercial purpose without our written permission.
- Subscribe multiple phone numbers for the purpose of reselling or redistributing our content.
We reserve the right to block or remove any user who breaches these terms.
Intellectual property
All content generated and curated by In Real Life — including recommendation text, descriptions, and editorial commentary — is our intellectual property or used under licence. You may share individual recommendations with friends, but you may not systematically reproduce, redistribute, or republish our content.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.
- We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to: reliance on recommendation accuracy, missed events, third-party service failures, or WhatsApp platform changes.
- Our total liability to you for any claim arising from the service is limited to the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim (if any).
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under English law.
Unsubscribing
You can unsubscribe at any time by messaging us on WhatsApp. We will remove you from the service and delete your personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you via WhatsApp before they take effect. Continued use of the service after notification constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
